We are honored by the present of your presence at our wedding. You have already done so much for us - your love, your support, your positive presence in our lives. We are blessed and extremely appreciative of the time, resources, and energy you put into being here to celebrate this very important day in our lives. We look forward to our future together and to making more memories with all of you.
Please, there is no need for a gift; however, if you feel like you want to give something in honor of our very special occasion, please make a donation to assist bereaved children and families.
The organization we've chosen is Roula's Kids. Roula's Kids was started by a near and dear friend and professional mental health counselor, who is the past Director of Bereavement Services at Calvary Hospital and Hospice in the Bronx, New York. Calvary provided end-of-life services for both my father and grandfather (his dad). After retiring and starting a practice in Kingston, New York, she started Roula's Kids, in honor of her mom, who she lost at a young age. Roula's kids provides free grief counseling services and is expanding soon into the greater New York City Area.

As a mother of bereaved children, I am exceptionally grateful and thankful to many persons, organizations, and professionals who have helped my children and family navigate an often rocky road of loss & grief in their lives. With many painful losses, at young ages, in this path of life, navigating a way forward can often feel overwhelming. Like many parents of bereaved children, your own grief can feel isolating enough - leaving it difficult to somehow find a anchor to help support you in feeling adrift. I am very grateful for the work of Roula's Kids as well as The Dougy Center in Portland, Oregon - two organizations who provide steadfast support to children grieving and their families. The mission of the Dougy Center is "to provide grief support in a safe place where children, teens, young adults, and their families can share their experiences before and after a death. We provide support and training locally, nationally, and internationally to individuals and organizations seeking to assist children who are grieving." The Dougy Center has a long-stading reputation of being a model, around the world, for grief support for children and families. We very much appreciate the beacon of light they have provided for those moving forward in life while living with loss.
